INEC to investigate underage voters

Abuja - The Independent National Electoral Commission says it will investigate report of alleged under-age voting in some part of the country.There were allegations that people below the legal age of 18 were seen casting votes in somepart of the North on Saturday and Sunday.
Chairman of INEC Attahiru Jega said on Sunday at a press conference that the commission has not received adequate details of under-age voters casting vote, but posited that investigation is being carried out to fish out offenders.

“We have not received details to investigate report of under-age voting.
“Under-age voting is an offense and we are investigating it properly. We will take action when investigation is concluded properly.”
Jega also added that:
“We warn against unauthorized announcement of results. It is an offence for anyone to pre-empt result at this time.”
