Lucas Vazquez: Benitez's Wonder Kid?

He's emerging as one of Real Madrid's raw talents and his perfomance in Saturday's 4-1 win against Getafe was simply exceptional; whilst playing at Right Back too, which is not his preferred position!

He came back into the team without kicking up a fuss and is quickly becoming one of Rafa Benítez's greatest hits during his time as the Real Madrid manager. The boss decided to bring Lucas Vázquez back into the fold and he is responding fantastically, even when playing at right-back. Against Getafe, Benítez opted to leave Álvaro Arbeloa on the bench and place Lucas Vázquez on the right-hand side of the defence. The Madrilenian coach was right on cue. The youngster produced a fine performance - close to perfect - with 46 completed passes out of 48 attempted and two assists. The player has featured in eight games this season - three of them from the off -, providing three assists, seven shots on target,167 good passes and just 18 which went astray. However the most important thing is that he has earned everyone's trust. No-one badmouths his presence in the XI.

He was brought in to provide backup, but his fine form means that he is taking on an increasingly regular role.Gaining experienceHis presence at right-back will help him to accumulate more game time. Although it is not the position in which he feels most comfortable, he has demonstrated that he is more than capable of playing there; or, at the very least, he is completely unfazed by the full-back's role.
